THE NUMBER

1.75 times.

That is about the per-share step-up in Tenstorrent's new round, by our estimate. The AI chip startup said Monday it raised $1.5 billion. Its total value more than doubled, to $6.2 billion. But that total includes the new cash. Public buyers marked chip stocks down last week. On Monday, private buyers marked one chip designer up.

PREMIER FEATURE

The $16 Trillion Rare Earth Discovery

The Guardian calls it "the beginning of the biggest gold rush in history"... and one stock under $5 owns exclusive rights to harvest these rare earths.

Elon Musk and his companies need these minerals before a January 1 Pentagon deadline.

THE SETUP
IN FOCUS

Tenstorrent Raised $1.5 Billion at More Than Twice Its Last Value. Public Chip Stocks Just Had Their Worst Week Since April 2025.

Tenstorrent raised $1.5 billion at a $6.2 billion value after the new money. Trace Capital and Innovation X led. Morgan Stanley, Sandisk and Tether's investment arm joined.

There are two ways to size the step-up. The total value more than doubled. But $1.5 billion of it is cash just put in. Leave that out, and the company was worth about $4.7 billion. That is about 1.75 times the last round's value, by our estimate. The second figure tracks what each new share cost.

Public chip stocks went the other way last week. A chip index fell 11.4%. On Monday, memory makers led a rebound. Sandisk (SNDK), one of the round's backers, rose 5.5%. CoreWeave (CRWV) did not join in, despite an upgrade.

Tenstorrent licenses its chip designs to Samsung and LG. It gave no sales, customer counts or profit with the round. So public peers offer no check on its value.

The Public Check Comes Later

One reading is that long-term backers are looking past the public selloff. A second is that private values lag the public reset. A listing would be the first public check on $6.2 billion. A down round at a peer would test private values sooner.

FROM OUR PARTNERS

For years I ignored gold. Until I found this income play. My #1 rule has always been: if it doesn't pay income, it's not worth owning. That's why for years I ignored gold. But I just found a $15 fund that pays income investors every single Friday. It could deliver $1,127 in a single month.

SIGNALS IN MOTION

SIGNAL 1: EnCap Raised $3.5 Billion to Keep Its Permian Royalties. KKR Agreed to Sell 50,000 Railcars to Ares Funds.

On Sunday, PMD said that when listings stall, owners hold longer or sell privately. Private sales often come at a price one buyer sets. Monday brought one of each. EnCap closed a continuation fund with about $3.5 billion pledged. It moves two Permian royalty firms out of older EnCap funds into a new one. EnCap did not say how many old investors sold, or the price against asset value. Banks are pitching versions that could hold assets for 10 to 15 years, Bloomberg reported.

KKR agreed to sell Infinity, a railcar lessor, to Ares funds. The price is about $2.9 billion, counting debt. That is about $58,000 a railcar, before its other equipment, by our estimate. The seller is KKR, which holds the firm through its insurer, Global Atlantic. The buyers are Ares infrastructure and insurance funds.

WHAT RESOLVES THIS

KKR's Nov. 9 results may show the deal's debt. The gain it books at closing will show if the price beat its carrying value.

SIGNAL 2: Brent Swung Almost $4 and Was Back Below Friday's Settlement. Treasury Yields Rose With Stocks.

This morning, PMD said oil slipped after a weekend of threats. Overnight, Brent fell almost 3%. Just before 2 p.m., it was above Friday's settlement. By 3 p.m., it was back below. From low to high, it moved almost $4. No single headline lined up with either turn. Late Monday, it was just over $109.

Last week, the 10-year yield fell as tech stocks fell. On Monday, both rose. Weak housing data did not pull yields down. At 1:28 p.m., Kalshi put a quarter-point October hike at 14 cents. Its last trade before 4 p.m. was also at 14.

WHAT RESOLVES THIS

Wednesday brings a 20-year bond sale. The last one cleared at 5.42%. A second $4 swing in Brent would point to the risk premium, not barrels, setting the price.

SIGNAL 3: Strategy Spent Nearly Nine Times as Much on Its Preferred as on Bitcoin. Bitcoin Missed the Chip Rebound.

On Friday, PMD said STRC's price against $100 would show if the preferred channel still works. Strategy (MSTR)spent about $193 million last week buying back STRC. STRC has traded below its $100 stated value. It spent $22 million on bitcoin.

Bitcoin lagged the Nasdaq. It gave back an early gain before the open, then did not rise when stocks did. Late Monday, it was near $82,000.

WHAT RESOLVES THIS

Strategy's holders vote Oct. 28 on daily STRC dividends. A second week with more spent on preferred than on bitcoin would confirm the shift.

Private Market Trends Driving Public Market Moves

A public price gets checked every day. A private one waits for a sale or a listing.

Tenstorrent's new value would first meet public buyers if it lists. EnCap's royalties may not face an open sale for years. Evergreen funds would push that out further. Ares' price for Infinity gets its check when KKR books the sale. Strategy is buying back its own preferred near $100. Until those checks come, owners lean on marks they set or agree on. If public prices keep swinging, those marks would likely face more questions from backers who want cash.

Same Rate Move. Three Different Bills.

The 10-year went from 4.19% to 5.29% this year. Every company on your screen felt that. They don't feel it on the same schedule.
