The Asia-focused buyout firm is seeking $4 billion to $5 billion for its newest pan-Asian fund, a raise that follows a period in which it returned more than $7 billion to existing limited partners.
PAG is seeking as much as $5 billion for a new pan-Asian buyout fund, according to people familiar with the fundraising, after a period in which the firm distributed more than $7 billion back to existing investors.
The sequencing matters. A large sponsor returning substantial capital to limited partners and then coming back to market for another sizable commitment is a familiar private equity pattern, but it still depends on investors believing recent realizations justify a new allocation. The $7 billion-plus distribution figure gives PAG a concrete track record to point to as it asks investors to recommit capital.
PAG has not disclosed the new fund's final size or an expected close date. The current $4 billion to $5 billion target is also separate from an earlier PAG fund vintage that closed at $4 billion several years ago.
For limited partners evaluating the new vehicle, the recent distribution record is the strongest disclosed data point until PAG provides more detail on final fund size, strategy emphasis, or timing.
