TQ Evening Briefing
Stocks clawed back Wednesday's losses. Salesforce held an investor day reframing AI as an interface revolution. The SEC opened tokenized stock trading two days after Congress failed to pass crypto legislation.

The Selloff Reversed. The Conditions Behind It Did Not.
The Nasdaq closed up 1.6%. The S&P gained more than 1%. The Dow added 0.6%. The 10-year yield pulled back below 5%. WTI fell to near $102 as Saudi Arabia's ship-to-ship crude transfers eased near-term supply fears.
Jefferies put the bounce in context. Markets likely overread Warsh's tone. The dot plot showed one more hike this year and rates holding through 2027. In June it showed one hike and a cut next year. The committee removed that cut and pushed the 2% target to 2029. Futures had been pricing three hikes over 12 months, and that gap is where the reversal came from.
Evercore called it the disappearance of the doves. Warsh submitted no dot at all. "Those aren't my forecasts," he said. "My business is to not give forward guidance."
But Hormuz is still at roughly 9% of normal traffic. Diesel is still above $6. The calendar absorbed Wednesday's decision. The conditions did not change with it.
TQ Trade Implication
One clean session after a rough week does not erase what built up over months. The relief in yields and oil is real. Whether it holds through Friday's BOJ decision and October's CPI print is the live question.
I've Read a Lot of Mining Filings. They All Sound the Same.
This one stopped me cold.
Sitting in the filings of one small American gold company is a phrase I have never seen on a gold project: substantial support and partnership from the Department of War.
The Department of War does not partner with gold miners. Except it's partnering with this one.
Here's why. The deposit carries a second metal — one China formally banned from export to the United States. The only domestic reserve of it in the country.
Gold for the dollar war. The banned metal for the shooting war. Both from the same pit.
Washington didn't stop at words. On May 21, 2026, a federal bank voted unanimously to lend nearly $3 billion to build it. Congress got 25 days notice. Nobody objected.
When final papers are signed, funding risk goes to zero — and Wall Street re-rates the stock from speculative developer to federally backed strategic asset.
The company is about one fiftieth the size of Newmont.
Salesforce Reframed What AI Does to Enterprise Software. The Market Is Not Sure Yet.
Salesforce (CRM) held its investor day on Wednesday and walked analysts through a new framing. Instead of AI replacing software, management called it an "interface revolution." Users interact directly with AI agents through Claude, Slack, and Agentforce rather than through traditional software menus.
Citi described the approach as users interacting with AI agents instead of applications. William Blair called it "headless," meaning the software runs in the background while AI sits in front. The iShares software ETF (IGV) is up roughly 40% since mid-April as this narrative has taken hold.
Salesforce stock was down about 2.5% on Thursday despite the event. That gap between a compelling presentation and a falling stock reflects skepticism the revenue proof has arrived yet. The SaaSpocalypse fear has faded. The AI monetization proof has not fully shown up in numbers.
The distinction between AI replacing software and AI riding on top of software is the most important open question in enterprise tech. Salesforce is betting on the second version. The stock is telling you the market wants more evidence before it pays for that answer.
Watch Salesforce's next quarterly report for Agentforce revenue as a standalone line. That specific number is the fastest way to confirm or challenge the interface revolution thesis.

The SEC Opened Tokenized Stock Trading Two Days After Congress Could Not.
The SEC exempted authorized trading venues from rules blocking digital tokens that represent listed shares. Exemptions took effect immediately and last five years. Firms can file a notice and begin operating without waiting for SEC approval. Securitize (SECZ) surged more than 20%.
The Clarity Act failed a Senate procedural vote two days earlier. The SEC used existing authority instead of waiting for the legislative path to clear.
There is a new constraint built into the framework. A venue trading a token built on someone else's stock must give that company 30 days notice. If the company objects, the offering cannot proceed. Citadel Securities objected to the exemption process itself as bypassing standard rulemaking. That legal challenge is still open.
The practical effect is that companies tokenizing their own shares face no such restriction. Third-party tokenization requires issuer consent. The first major company to refuse consent will set the norm faster than any future rulemaking.
The five-year exemption is long enough to build infrastructure on. The Citadel procedural challenge introduces legal risk that any venue building on that foundation should be pricing in now.
Why are companies flying spy planes over Elon's closely-guarded AI lab?
Elon did the seemingly impossible – far faster than anyone expected...
And it's sent the tech industry into PANIC MODE.
ChatGPT, Claude, Google Gemini, and DeepSeek could soon become obsolete.
And three little-known firms could soar 10X or higher as a result.
Half the S&P 500 Is Now Trading Below Its 200-Day Moving Average.
Market breadth is breaking down below the headline numbers. Just over half of S&P 500 constituents are now trading below their 200-day moving averages.
Starbucks (SBUX), J.B. Hunt (JBHT), Goldman Sachs (GS), KLA Corp (KLAC), RTX (RTX), and Colgate-Palmolive (CL) are among the names that recently crossed below that level.
Goldman fell below its 200-day moving average for the first time since March after the Fed hiked. J.B. Hunt crossed below after its profit warning on diesel costs. KLA crossed below for the first time since May 2025.
The headline indexes look healthy because the largest names are holding. Equal-weight tells a different story. A market where more than half the constituents are below long-run trend lines while the cap-weighted index sits 4% under all-time highs is a market running on a narrowing base.
That kind of setup has historically preceded broader corrections when the supporting names eventually catch up to the deterioration underneath.
TQ Execution Bias
The divergence between cap-weighted performance and underlying breadth is the structural risk nobody is talking about after a strong bounce day. Watch equal-weight S&P performance against cap-weight over the next two weeks as a real-time breadth indicator.
- Fluence Energy (FLNC) cut its full-year revenue guidance by roughly 20%, dropping from $2.9 billion to $3.1 billion down to $2.4 billion. It also guided to a loss before interest and taxes of $200 million versus previous guidance for near breakeven. Battery storage projects have been hit by tariff-driven cost increases and project delays. The guidance cut landed the same week the grid infrastructure trade was getting attention from the Amazon-Generac deal.
- Copperhit its highest level since September 10, recovering more than 1% on the week. Freeport-McMoRan (FCX) and Southern Copper (SCCO) each gained more than 3%. Copper is a real-time indicator of industrial activity and Chinese demand. A bounce in copper the same week oil eased and yields pulled back is the broadest risk-on signal the commodity complex has sent this month.
- Salesforce (CRM) deepened its partnership with Anthropic in the same investor day where it outlined its AI interface approach. Novo Nordisk separately said it is partnering with Anthropic for drug research. Two major enterprise partnerships announced for Anthropic in a single week signals the company is building commercial revenue ahead of its anticipated IPO, without needing to disclose financials publicly.
The Bounce Was Real. The Breadth Warning Is Also Real. BOJ Tomorrow.
The Nasdaq clawed back Wednesday's losses. The 10-year yield retreated from 5%. WTI held around $102 as Saudi supply alternatives took pressure off. Salesforce made its AI case to Wall Street. The SEC opened tokenized stocks without waiting for Congress.
Below the surface, more than half of S&P 500 stocks are below their 200-day averages. Fluence cut guidance hard. The conditions that caused the Fed to hike have not changed.
The BOJ decides tomorrow. A second major central bank hiking in 48 hours adds another layer to the global rate picture heading into the weekend.
