JPMorgan's Tokenized Money Funds Are Now on Solana. One of Them Is Built for Stablecoin Reserves

J.P. Morgan Asset Management made its MONY and JLTXX funds available on the Solana blockchain to qualified U.S. investors. JLTXX, a registered government money market fund, is designed to hold reserves for issuers under the GENIUS Act.

J.P. Morgan Asset Management said on Thursday that two tokenized money market funds, My OnChain Net Yield Fund, or MONY, and the JPMorgan OnChain Liquidity-Token Money Market Fund, or JLTXX, are now available on the Solana blockchain to qualified U.S. investors.

Clients subscribe and redeem through Morgan Money, the firm's liquidity trading platform, and receive fund tokens at their own blockchain addresses. "Our clients operate across more than one network, and their liquidity should too," said Paul Przybylski of J.P. Morgan Asset Management.

The two funds serve different purposes. MONY is a private placement under Regulation D Rule 506(c), with a $1 million minimum. JLTXX is a registered government money market fund designed to support stablecoin issuers under the GENIUS Act, which requires issuers to back their coins with high-quality liquid assets such as cash and short-term Treasuries.

Why JLTXX matters

The second fund is the more significant one. A government money market fund, managed by the asset arm of the largest U.S. bank and available as a token on the same blockchain where a stablecoin circulates, gives issuers a way to hold those reserves on-chain.

What it is not

This is not a JPMorgan stablecoin, and the funds are not available to retail investors. Investors must qualify as both accredited investors and qualified purchasers, according to Solana Compass, a Solana-focused research site, which also put J.P. Morgan Asset Management's assets at $4.8 trillion at the end of September. The firm did not say how much it expects to hold on Solana or name any clients.

Solana's token traded at about $104.63 early Friday, up about 1% on the day. There was no sign of a move tied to the announcement.

Plumbing or checkbox

The optimistic view is that a large bank-sponsored fund built for GENIUS reserves, on a public blockchain, is a real step toward tokenized cash becoming part of the stablecoin plumbing.

The cautious view is that, without disclosed assets or clients, the move is a distribution decision rather than evidence of demand.

What to watch

Any disclosure of assets held through the Solana share class, and whether stablecoin issuers name JLTXX among their reserve holdings once the GENIUS Act takes effect on Jan. 18, 2027.
