EQT Launches a New $2.5 Billion Fund Aimed at Asia's Mid-Cap Buyouts

The buyout firm has begun raising a dedicated pan-Asia, mid-cap vehicle, a narrower strategy than the large-cap Asia buyout funds that have drawn more attention this year.

EQT has launched a new pan-Asia mid-cap buyout fund with a target of $2.5 billion. The fund launched on , and no further disclosures on fundraising progress, named limited partners, or an expected close date are yet available.

The mid-cap focus distinguishes the vehicle from the large-cap pan-Asian buyout funds that have dominated more of the region's private markets activity. A dedicated smaller-deal strategy points to EQT seeking opportunities in a segment with a different competitive set from the largest and most heavily contested transactions.

Beyond the target size and launch date, the meaningful fundraising data has not yet arrived. Actual capital raised, named anchor investors, and a close date will determine how strongly limited partners respond to the strategy.
