Lula's runoff win sent the main U.S.-listed Brazil fund down about 25% before the open. Musk said SpaceX closed $40 billion of chip debt as smaller AI clouds slipped. Brent eased as regional envoys gathered in Tehran for talks.
U.S. Futures Held Steady While Brazil Sold Off
S&P 500 futures rose about 0.1% early Monday, Dow futures about 0.4%, and Nasdaq-100 futures were little changed. On Friday, the Dow fell 653 points, and the Nasdaq closed at its lowest since August.
The Fed decides Wednesday. Polymarket priced a hold at 94.5 cents early Monday, and Kalshi's hike contract traded at 6 cents. Both venues price a December hike above 75 cents. Swaps implied about 72.8% as of Friday.
Investor Signal
Prediction markets lean further toward a December hike than rates traders do. A statement that keeps December open would support the dollar and two-year yields. Sunday's Brazil vote is a reminder that an 82-cent favorite still loses about one time in five.
Investing In The Titans of AI
Carnegie didn't invent steel. He used new technology to produce it cheaper and faster than anyone on Earth.
Rockefeller didn't discover oil. He used industrial machinery to refine it more efficiently.
Vanderbilt didn't build the railroad. He understood that whoever controlled the infrastructure controlled the economy.
Their combined fortunes were between $700 billion and $1 trillion.
Best-selling financial author Alexander Green has identified three companies positioned to be the Titans of the AI age.

Brazil's Election Trade Took Three Weeks to Build. It Is Unwinding Before São Paulo Opens.
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva won Sunday's runoff with 51.79% of valid votes to 48.21% for Flávio Bolsonaro, the electoral court's final count shows. Final polls had the race within the margin of error. Prediction markets priced a Bolsonaro win at about 82 cents Sunday afternoon. By late evening, Polymarket's contract was near zero.
Investors had bought the first-round result. Brazilian stocks closed Friday almost 7% above their level before the Oct. 4 first round, and the real was nearly 5% stronger.
Early Monday, the iShares MSCI Brazil ETF (EWZ) was quoted near $31.77, about 25% below Friday's $42.59 close. Petrobras (PBR) was down about 23%, Itaú Unibanco (ITUB) about 28%, Nu Holdings (NU) about 22% and MercadoLibre (MELI) about 9%. Real futures fell nearly 10% in Asian trading.
Bolsonaro has not conceded and says he will seek an annulment over a two-hour voting extension. Analysts see little chance it succeeds.
Investor Signal
The fund's drop combines lower share prices with a weaker real. In dollars, the gains after the first round came to roughly 12%, and the premarket drop is about twice that. A fall larger than the lost rally may point to a fiscal premium returning. Public debt tops 82% of GDP, and Lula's team targets a primary surplus of about 1.3% of GDP by 2030. The choice of finance minister is the first test, with Brazilian banks and domestic-facing companies most exposed.
France Escaped a Downgrade and Britain Presents Its Budget. Both Bond Markets Rest on Budgets Not Yet Passed.
Brazil showed what a broken fiscal bet costs. Europe's bond markets face their own budget tests this week.
France's 10-year yield fell 5 basis points Monday morning after Moody's kept its Aa3 rating with a negative outlook. The yield rose above 5% last week for the first time since 2002. Moody's assumes a deficit-reducing 2027 budget will be adopted. It has not passed.
Britain presents its budget Wednesday. The 10-year gilt yield ended last week near 5.33%, and markets price at least three Bank of England hikes by April 2027. Some strategists say a smooth budget could take up to 20 basis points off that yield.
Investor Signal
If gilts already price a smooth budget, the bigger move would come from disappointment. A UK budget built on optimistic forecasts or heavier borrowing would hit long-dated gilts first. For France, S&P's review on Nov. 27 is the next test. Long gilts and French government bonds are most exposed.
Middle East Conflict Lights Fuse on US Debt Bomb
America was already drowning in $38 trillion of debt, but the recent conflict in the Middle East just accelerated the timeline.
As oil spikes, a 100-year-old stock market signal that accurately predicted the 2008 and 2020 crashes is flashing a massive "Sell" on dozens of popular U.S. equities.
If you hold the wrong stocks when this debt crisis hits, it could wipe out years of gains.

SpaceX Says It Closed $40 Billion of Chip Debt. The Smaller AI Clouds Slipped Again.
Elon Musk said Sunday that SpaceX (SPCX) had closed $40 billion of debt to buy graphics processors arriving in the first and second quarters. He gave no lenders, pricing or structure, and SpaceX had made no filing by Monday morning.
Musk also said many independent AI cloud providers, the neoclouds, face "guppy-level death and consolidation." That is a competitor's opinion, not a disclosure. CoreWeave (CRWV) was quoted near $51.63 early Monday, about 5% below Friday's close and under its 52-week low of $53.50. Nebius (NBIS) was down about 4%.
Investor Signal
As in Brazil, the market is pricing risk by who can fund itself. A company that can raise $40 billion on its own credit does not need to rent computing power. Smaller providers lean on debt and a few large customers, and the cost of insuring CoreWeave's debt has climbed this month. The largest cloud buyers report Wednesday and Thursday, and their spending plans set the demand that reaches the renters.
Oil Eased as Regional Envoys Gathered in Tehran. Iran Says Hormuz Won't Return to the Old Rules.
Brent traded near $115 early Monday, down about 1.5% from Friday's $116.72 settle. Saudi, Pakistani and Turkish officials were in Tehran on Monday for talks with Iran's leaders.
Iran's foreign minister said Sunday that the Strait of Hormuz "will no longer be managed as it was in the past." Houthi forces claimed a new missile attack on Riyadh's airport, and the Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted a missile. Claims of damage are unconfirmed.
Polymarket's contract on the U.S.-Iran ceasefire holding through Oct. 31 fell sharply Sunday evening, to as low as 69 cents. It was back at 85.5 cents by Monday morning. No cause for the drop has been established. An unconfirmed strike claim surfaced only after the recovery had begun.
Exxon Mobil (XOM) and Chevron (CVX) closed Friday at 52-week highs. Both report Friday.
Investor Signal
Talks can lower the near-term risk of a strike while Iran's stance keeps a lasting cost on Gulf shipping. The ceasefire contracts price low strike odds this week and roughly even odds by Nov. 15, after the midterms. Brent for December 2027 trades near $87, about $30 below the front month. Producers setting budgets off today's price, along with refiners and airlines, are most exposed.

A Hospital System Is Said to Be Near a Surgery Partners Deal at $20. Bain Offered $25.75 Last Year.
Not-for-profit Bon Secours Mercy Health is in late-stage talks to buy a majority of Surgery Partners (SGRY) at about $20 a share, the Financial Times reported. Bain Capital would keep its stake of almost 40%, the report said. No agreement has been announced.
The price is 27% above Friday's $15.75 close. It is also about 22% below the $25.75 a share Bain proposed in January 2025. Those talks ended in June 2025. Early Monday the stock was quoted near $19.35.
Investor Signal
Bain's 2025 price is no longer the benchmark for this company. The gap between $19.35 and $20 is the discount for a deal not yet signed. A signed agreement would show whether public holders receive the same $20, or whether only a majority stake changes hands.
Sunday night showed what a crowded bet costs when the result goes the other way. Brazil's traders paid first.
This week asks the same of Europe's budgets, the Gulf talks and the lenders behind AI. Prices that assume the good outcome leave little room if it does not arrive.
