BXPM, a perpetual multi-asset fund for non-U.S. individual investors, launched in the same week several large private credit vehicles reported rationed redemptions.
Blackstone has launched a fund that lets wealthy individuals outside the United States buy into its private equity, infrastructure, real estate and credit businesses in a single vehicle. The exit door is narrower than the one on the funds now turning investors away.
The firm said it launched BXPM, the Blackstone Private Markets Fund, a perpetual vehicle for eligible non-U.S. individual investors. It invests across Blackstone's existing platforms, which manage $364 billion in private equity, $90 billion in infrastructure, $314 billion in real estate and $469 billion in credit and insurance. It is the first multi-strategy product under Blackstone Portfolio Solutions, led by Rashmi Madan.
The terms
As described in the fund's investor materials, BXPM takes monthly subscriptions at net asset value with a $10,000 minimum. Quarterly redemptions are capped at 3% of NAV and are not guaranteed, and investors who leave within 24 months face an early-redemption deduction. There is no management or performance fee at the BXPM level, but the underlying Blackstone vehicles charge their own fees, reported at about 1.25% for management and 12.5% of profits above a 5% hurdle, plus a 0.10% administration fee. The fund can borrow up to 30%, and about half the portfolio is expected to go to private equity.
The comparison
A 3% quarterly cap is lower than the 5% limits that Blackstone's own BCRED, Apollo Debt Solutions and Ares Strategic Income Fund operate under. This week, those funds reported third-quarter requests ranging from about 10% to 14.7%, with investors receiving a fraction of what they asked for.
Launching a product with tighter liquidity terms in that environment points to how managers are designing the next generation of wealth-channel funds. Rather than promise more liquidity to win investors, the terms shift more of the timing risk onto the buyer. A 3% cap means a full exit could take many quarters even in normal conditions.
For Blackstone, the product opens a new channel for capital that does not have to be raised fund by fund. For investors, it offers diversified access at relatively low entry minimums in exchange for patience.
Early subscription figures will show whether non-U.S. wealth clients accept the trade-off. The first quarters in which redemption requests approach the 3% limit will test how the structure holds up.
